A partnership to reinvent sportswear

When it comes to textile waste, the fashion industry is often singled out. However, the sports sector is no exception: at the end of each season, sports clubs accumulate stocks of unsold technical clothing, which is difficult to recycle and a source of plastic pollution.

Faced with this challenge, Paris Basketball decided to take action. In collaboration with Losanje, the club has launched an upcycled merchandising capsule, transforming its unsold merchandise into responsible, meaningful products with a positive impact.

The environmental challenges facing sports textiles

Sports textiles, mostly made of polyester, pose a twofold environmental problem:

  • Recycling difficulties: synthetic fibers require heavy, energy-intensive processes.
  • Microplastic pollution: each time these materials are washed, they release particles that take centuries to degrade.

The result: a high carbon footprint, and few truly sustainable end-of-life solutions.
Yet sport has an exemplary role to play in the ecological transition. It is in this context thattextile upcycling is emerging as an innovative, practical and accessible alternative.

Upcycling: a new life for unsold sports equipment

Upcycling enables existing textile products (unsold, obsolete, defective...) to be transformed into new quality pieces, without recreating new material. This approach :

  • Reduces textile waste
  • Reduces carbon footprint and water consumption
  • Limits the production of microplastics
  • Strong storytelling, rooted in the DNA of sports brands

A pioneering partnership with Paris Basketball

For its first upcycling capsule, Paris Basketball entrusted LOSANJE with the task of repurposing its season's unsold merchandise.
The result? The " Regenerated Edition " collection: 5 unique pieces (2 t-shirts, 1 pair of shorts, 2 bananas), available online.

This project has saved over 520 kg of CO₂, while recovering technical textiles that are usually complex to recycle.
It's also a strong message sent to supporters: you can display your club's colors without giving up your values.

"This project is a symbol. Upcycling allows us to tell a story, to give a second life to meaningful pieces."
- Mathieu Khouri, Managing Director of LOSANJE
"Our jerseys used to tell a story. Thanks to upcycling, they continue to exist in a different way."
- Mathias Piez, Managing Director, Paris Basketball

A trend that's spreading to the world of sports

Other clubs and institutions are following suit: Roland-Garros recently called on LOSANJE to transform its unsold jackets into eco-responsible accessories.
Textile upcycling is thus becoming a CSR lever for sports organizations, as well as an image and innovation asset.

A playground for a sustainable revolution

This project embodies the full potential of upcycling applied to sport:

  • Reducing textile waste
  • Compliance with regulations such as the AGEC Act
  • Creating unique, sustainable and desirable products

And above all: proof that the circular economy can also be stylish, committed and unifying.
