How can thousands of obsolete vests be recycled without resorting to destruction or degrading recycling? La Poste has risen to the challenge by collaborating with Losanje, a specialist inindustrial textile upcycling, to transform 20,000 old vests into sustainable corporate gifts. A project on a scale never before seen in France, it shows that upcycling can become a concrete, large-scale solution for a circular textile economy.
Recycle 5 tons of professional textiles instead of destroying them
As part of a change of corporate identity, La Poste has renewed its professional outfits. The result: over 5 tons of customer service vests no longer fit for use.
Rather than opting for downcycling (or destruction, the group has made a strong choice: to manage the end-of-life of its textiles responsibly, by transforming them locally. With this in mind, it called on Losanje to co-construct a tailor-made project.

Industrial upcycling: transforming the existing without producing something new
Textile upcycling involves reusing finished products (unsold goods, uniforms, defective parts) to cut, reconfigure and assemble them into new, higher value-added products.
At Losanje, this process is now fully industrialised industrialized thanks to an automated automated cutting linedesigned thanks to a €2.7 million investment. This unique device enables us to process large volumes while maintaining a high level of quality.
33,000 kits made from 20,000 vests
The result? 33,000 upcycled kits, available in three models, and 1,000 bobs made from La Poste vests were given as end-of-year gifts to employees.
A gesture with strong symbolic value, embodying the Group's CSR commitments and promoting the postal identity through a useful, local, sustainable and meaningful object.
"This project is virtuous, Made in France, and rooted in La Poste's imagination. It symbolizes our commitment to responsible resource management." - Christine Valentin, Head of Ecological Transition, DHR La Poste

Environmental impact: figures that speak for themselves
Thisprofessional textile upcycling operation avoided a considerable environmental impact:
- 155,000 kg of CO2 avoided (≈ 1 million km by car)
- 48 million liters of water saved (≈ 25 Olympic-sized swimming pools)
- 5 tonnes of textiles diverted from destruction
"We've proven that upcycling is viable on an industrial scale - ecologically and economically." - Simon Peyronnaud, co-founder of Losanje
"This kind of project makes a real environmental difference, limiting textile waste and the need for new materials." - Mathieu Khouri, co-founder of Losanje
A local, inclusive and circular value chain
In addition to its ecological impact, the project has mobilized committed players in the Made in France andsocial economy sectors:
- Cutting and project management carried out in Losanje workshops
- Assembly entrusted to partners such as Nouvelle Attitude (social integration subsidiary) and a workshop in Chenôve, Burgundy
This exemplary collaboration was doubly rewarded at the Collectif Génération Responsable's R Awards, receiving the jury's "coup de coeur" for its environmental, social and symbolic impact.

A reference for all companies wishing to transform their end-o-life textile products
This project demonstrates that, with the right partners and a circular vision, it is possible to transform dormant stocks and obsolete uniforms into sustainable, meaningful and high-impact objects.
